Just got my first hot shoe flash. The Sunpack 383. Was wondering hould I use batteries in such as 2500mha energizer rechargeables or should I get a belt mounted battery pack. If so which one should I look for. I plan to use the flah for a wedding later this year and would take about 250 to 300 photos with it.

I use a 383 & 544 for weddings and while the shoe mount 383 makes good use of batteries the belt pack will offer you more shots and faster recycle times. If it does run low have those AA's ready to go & keep shooting. The only downside(s) are 1) you'll be "wired up" to the pack so if you switch cameras it will require a disconnect and 2) the best I've seen the battery pack for is about $90 US, more than the 383 goes for new. That being said, I think it's still a bargain asexternal packs go and will offer worry-free shooting.
