Hi. i am a newbie in studio photography. As yet I have not purchased a flash meter. What would be the best way to work around this? Must I always use the manual mode at about 125 shutter in the manual mode ? And just trial and error ?

Basically, yes. But use the LCD on your camera to review the image and look at the histogram. Use the histogram to adjust your exposure. Once set, then you can shoot without having to constantly review.

I do have a flash meter, and I always do a few test shots before really getting down to work and I review the test shot with the histogram and make exposure adjustments as necessary. But once set, there should be no need to change the settings, unless you rearrange the lights.
