Default PDR-M700 AF assist?

Hey all,
Thanks for the great posts. I got me a PDR-M700 for $199 yesterday. Works great so far and the covering-up-the-flash-sensor trick works awesome. I used regular clear scotch tape and used a black sharpie to darken it.

Also, I picked up some 2300mAh NiMH batteries for the camera and they last much longer now than other NiMHs, and a 256MB SD card.

My only complaint is this - THERE IS NO AUTOFOCUS ASSIST LAMP. I used to own a Fuji S5000, and the AF assist lamp is spectacular. I was wondering how the AF works on the PDR-M700 so maybe I can rig some sorta AF assist lamp either with white or IR-LEDs to help the AF.

Comments greatly appreciated.
