Earlier I talked about M4 repairs. I recently repaired an M5 and it was a lot easier since the shutter button is off board the mode switch. The repair involves using a drill in a pin vice to drill 4 small pilot holes thru the original broken tabs. For this to work the flex must be positioned precisely and the spring contacts on the rotating part of the dial must be in good shape. Use coarse thread screws (used in plastic in salvaged cameras, very small) and they must be angled inward to avoid binding the outer rotating dial. Works great.
