Default P-3 Orion

My first try panning aircraft. A P-3 Orion ASW (anti-submarine warfare) practicing touch and go at Marine Corp Base Hawaii. Took this shot from a nearby pier.

Comments welcomed.

Nicely composed image which fills the space. You've captured some prop rotation which always is desireable in images such as this. I find panning to be a challenge...looks like you did pretty good. What focal length lens (or zoom) did you use?

nice detail on the senor buoy launching bay. Great job on the panning, and like jelpee said, the prop movement adds allot to the shot.

Thanks much for the comments. Propeller motion was unintended but I got lucky. Will keep in mind next time.

jelpee, this was at 300mm on my Nikon 70-300 VR.

Went back yesterday (Sunday) but there were no flights while I was there.
