More trains....I am salivating. I like this composition...it shows off the length of the train with a focus on the cab.

Jelpee, our trains in Finland are not as fast as in Germany and France, but we have some neat cars that are switched on in thought concerning passengers. Rail is the way to go! I remember back in Plymouth, England, I used the railway quite a lot... sure was nice having sleeping car room and all, beautiful country-side on the way to Scotland. My first train experience, of couse, was in California... just wish more people were switched on to trains.

Bynx, nice shot!

Very nice shot. I've never seen a commuter train in Canada (just the Canadian)..but then in the Prairies we have lot's of space and no where near the population of Southern Ontario.

Ned, I too wish that interstate rail travel was more popular today in the US. It was in the 1940's and 1950's, but then interstate highways and air travel relegated rail in the US to freight. Amtrak has been a money losing venture since its inception and exists today only becuase of US government funding. In 2006 we spent our family vacation on a trip to Seattle from Chicago on Amtrak's Empire Builder. It was a 2.5 day trip through Illinois, and the most rural yet scenic parts of Wisconsin, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Washington. We had a private sleeper car. The scenery was spectacular and the experience memorable (even for my 2 daughters who have recently asked to do it again).

Rail travel throug the Canadian Rockies, and the European Alps are on my bucket list!

Unfortunately when I shot this the sun was on the west side so the front of the train was in deep shadow. Boosting it up caused all that noise. Ive gotta go and shoot the same shot in the morning. Not all of the GO trains have that nice looking engine. Thanks all for your comments.
