Default The best car I ever had.

I miss my old cruiser. It's a 82 fj40 with Old Man Emu suspension, Detroit locker in rear, Auburn limited slip in front with 4:10s. Warn hubs 33"BFG mud terrians. That was one fun ride.

Great truck...what a classic. I like the look and the way you have your FJ outfitted.

I wanted to get the new Toyota FJ Cruiser...wife didn't care for it, although I love both old and new iterations.

You maybe a purist...an FJ aficionado and if so, may not like this story.

About 20 years ago, one hot August night, I drew alongside an open FJ Cruiser that had an performance V8 sound, quite unlike the FJ's stock inline , big six.

I asked the driver what it had under the hood...he replied a 383 cubic inch Chevy V8 (350 block with 400 crank)...souped up.

At the change of the lights he floored it.....the roar of the healthy V8 and all 4 tires disappeared in wreaths of tire smoke.

Not too the taste of everybody...but I liked it.

Thats a good memory. I kept my drivetrain stock. When I first bought it I rebuilt the tranny and original straight (big) 6. Slow but able to go just about anywhere.

Love my current FJ Cruiser. It is an awesome off road machine.

Here's my FJ, my lovely wife, and myself atop Imogene Pass in Southwest Colorado.

Great shot!
Thank god for fuel injection. The old carbureted cruisers would be gasping for air at that elevation.

Right after I bought my FJ-40 (1964 w/1983 2F), I took it to the top of Mt. Evans, which is around 14,200 feet. She wasn't happy the last couple of thousand feet, but I figured if she could make it to the top, she was good to go anywhere in the US. One of my friends told me that 40's should never be sold, only willed. Mine is taking a nap while I finish up an axle swap. Nice looking rig!
