Memorial day is coming, they are ramping up for it also. The vf22 came up to check out the heliport ramps for the long weekend show. Couple of F16's have been flying up the hudson. And I expect by end of next week the fleet will start coming in to NYC harbor for fleet week.

Yeah, not much of the fleet comes up the Potomac anymore.

Every year the Blue Angels end their routine the same way. All six aricraft fly in a delta formation about 200 feet over my street. Four days in a row, the same time every day. See my:

Jsoh '09 (Last year it was the Air Force Thunderbirds.)

So, anything happen over in your neighborhood today?

It has been in the past. A couple of years ago, there was an F-104. That was cool. It's the only civilian aircraft that can exceed the speed of sound.

Most of the show is prop aircraft, and they never leave the base, but all the jet aricraft come over my neighborhood to rattle my windows.

Actually most civilian airlines jets, like the 747, 777, 767,a340, a330 can exceed the speed of sound. It is just not very fuel efficient and cut heavy into the profit adding a ton of over head cost. The 747-400 can easily break mark 1 flying level and the original 747 did it in a during air trail back in the early 70's in a dive.

I was delay fly back from fra to jfk couple of years back for 12 hours. The air speed was at 790mph for about 1 hour in the middle of the atlantic. They had to get in before the 2 hour down time of jfk in the middle of the night. Did the flight in 5 hours and 20 min

BTW, that was shot with my Nikon D90 and Tokina 100-300mm f/4.0.

And no, that's not cropped.
