yes thats a balloon about to pop hitting the wing - most of the pilots at the show went up to see who could pop the most balloons with their planes

Hope you like the pictures as much as i enjoyed taking them - and crits/comments welcome

Very nice, like the mix of modern and old, props and jets and helio.

I like the typhoon. And the biplane with the girl on top.

The UH-1 is nice, a bit more main rotor motion would be nice effect

Nice variety of aircraft. #4 is my favorite of the series! I was looking for a sharp zoom recently and decided to get a 1.7 t/c for my 70-200 f/2.8. How happy are you with the Sigma 150-500 expecially for aircraft?

Nice series, pleased that you got the shutter speed about right for the prop planes, all too often we see them with the blades pretty much frozen.

The main thing that jumps out at me is the white balance as it seems to be a bit all over the place. You can probably fix most of that in PP if you desire.

I've also moved this to transportation for you.

white balance was on auto and i felt was mostly giving slighty cool results so was manually just playing with it for each one when processing - so yeah maybe is abit random - the clouds and smoke didn't help though since sky went from nice blue to white puffy clouds to some dirty mucky clouds

as you say should maybe consider goin back and trying for a more consistant look and paying more attension to the backgrounds when setting the wb

as for the 150-500 focusing - yeah it was pretty good - started off abit dodgy since i had my camera sitting on autofocus single which didn't help much =) also had it set for centre focusing - once i remembered and switched over to auto focus points and continueus autofocus the lens and camera kept up quite well and the number of keepers increased

as for the rotor speed of the huey - yeah could used some more blur but the rotor was surprisingly slow and to get the nice rotor effect ment the rest was slightly blurred too

as for getting it about right on the planes well cant claim credit there - had the camera in aperture priority set at f8 for enough dof and hopefully abit sharper than any wider - i id dial in some compensation for the bright skys but dont think i really needed too since had to tone most down in raw a little afterwards - perhaps i should have just trusted the cameras segment metering

overall i am happy with the photos though and had a good day

very nice series here. I was drawn away from the 5.0 -6.3 aperture on the Bigma thinking it would be too slow for wildlife/sports but your pictures prove its a nice lens.
