somebody told me that fluted glass on the driver's side dash was to sere the green light for street dragging. i don't know if it's true.

No necessarily for drag-racing Frank. But because the hardtop versions of these cars often had a visor out over the windshield making it hard to see street lights if you were too close...

I must be losing it....I dont remember the 51's having side panels simular to my 62 vette. Very nice custom job, and photo Walter.

You're not losing it .....just some nice custom work....those scalloped sides...reminiscent of the Gen 2 of Corvettes. You had a '62 Vette....ahh. Back in '78 I had a chance to buy a '62 Vette, which had been recently brought in from LA...327 (not #'s matching), 4 speed, white....for $5000 CAD...didn't buy it....one of life's regrets ever since.
