Default So A380's at JFK

I took a long lunch by the water, and within 30min I had AF A380 landing and the LH A380 taking off.

Looks like you were at a nice vantage point to catch these supers arriving and departing! I did not know that Lufthansa was flying A380's to the US. Good stuff...thanks for the views!

I need a longer lens, thinking about a kenko 1.4x tc for the 70-300. Or going with a canon 100-400L

The a380 from LH will stop JFK for the winter. If you ever get a chance, jfk around 3:50-4:40 you will get both the AF coming in and the LH leaving. I got lucky I pick the right spot at hobo.

I'd go for the 100-400L f/4. My aviation shooting buddy uses one and the images are top class.

I was in Atlanta recently but for some reason ever time I tried to take pictures out the airport window onto the main runway the TSA people said that was against the law and had me put my camera back in my bag......... ha? so that didn't pan out for me....

I just acquired a Russian 1000mm f10 reflex lens made by Lomo. Hope to check it out at the airport as soon as the temperature drops to below 100. It should be great fun focusing on my Sony A200. Gee, wonder if I should add my 1.4x teleconverter. 2100mm equivilent should really test my 77 year old eyes. Stay tuned.

The TSA is full of crap! I repeat, the TSA is full of crap. Make them show you the regulation that prohibits the use of a personal camera within the confines of of an airport. They will fail to do so. The TSA employees are there because their welfare has run out.
