Default St. Claire River Traffic

Photo #1 is of a fresh water "Thousand Footer"; so named as it is the largest ship that can pass through the locks of the Great Lakes. This one is an ore/coal carrier
Photo #2 is a salt water ship. This one appears to be custom rigged to carry support tower sections for wind powered electric generation.
The land in the background is Canada. The photos were taken a few miles south of Port Huron, Michigan.

I like this photo...the dock in the foreground the large ship in the background.

Interesting to see the name of the saltwater ship on the prow...BBC Elbe.....wonder if it's from / registered in Germany, going by the name. Busy shipping area in the Great Lakes. Never been there, except for one.... Lake Superior, when visiting Chicago, Duluth and Thunder Bay, Ont.
