Default Another "thirsty" Aussie Cattle Truck

G'day all

Some of you will have seen my 'fascination' with the 'real-big' aussie cattle trucks ... here's another one hitting the road so I snapped a couple of shots.

This bloke was just finishing a fill up as I arrived & mentioned that he had 180 'weaners' on board and was off for a 750km journey from Barcaldine to Goondiwindi in Queensland

1- At the pumps

exif - Fuji X-s1; 1/850s x f6,4; 35mm [ff]; iso-200

2- about to hit-the-road

exif - Fuji X-s1; 1/800s x f6,4; 100mm [ff]; iso-200

3- glad I don't have to pay this bill

exif - Fuji X-s1; 1/280s x f4,5; 140mm [ff]; iso-200

Regards, Phil

Not sure how your laws are in Australia, but here, the price of diesel used to be cheaper than gasoline. Then the EPA decided to force the reduction of sulphur in diesel fuel, and the price is now higher than the lowest grade of gasoline. Awesome trucks, by the way.

Thx Robert

Many [20+] years ago the aussie price for fuel was linked to the international parity price of Tapis crude oil and more recently to the singapore price of crude. Then comes federal taxes and state taxes and finally VAT [called GST over here]

As an aside - after posting the above I realised that the truckie was using 2 pumps to
fill his 2 sets of tanks - his other tank took 500Lt of fuel ~ glad I'm not paying for it all

As to the future price of fuel - we're being warned that once India & China become as "automoted" as the rest of the western world, the price of diesel fuel will skyrocket as demand outstrips supply in a way we have never seen before

Oh but you are paying for it all. The more he pays for fuel the more you pay to buy what what he is hauling when it get s to the store. BTW those pumps don't look big enough to handle that big rig.
