We didn't make it until 10-1, usually It's hot and crowded. The cool fall weather and no crowds made it different but pleasant. Instead of hanging out at the river all day swimming we had to find something else to do.
The Western Sierras are not like the Eastern Sierras with their fall color but there was lots of photo opportunities.

This was our home in the forest at breakfast time.

Our first day out we traveled to the Alder Creek Grove of giant sequoia trees.

While in Alder Creek Grove we searched for the Stagg Tree which is supposed to be the fifth largest living thing on earth. The trail along the way was interesting.

The next day our group grew and we decided to look for the Sentinel Tree. We could'nt find it and we came to the conclusion that it's not there anymore.
During our search we found a place named Inspiration Point that had a great view. The rental car had a tough time getting there.

Our last stop was Dome Rock. A place with a great view! In fact the view was so good I couldn't get anyone to cooperate.

Looks like a great location. I've lately been going through a book of photographs by Ansel Adams.

The area you camped in kind of reminds me of some ot his photo 'locales'.
