Default Grand Canyon NP Sunset

Last set from my fall travels to the National Parks. These were taken at Point Royal at the north rim of the Grand Canyon. It was a overcast for most of the afternoon, but then about 20 minutes before sunset, a band of clearing appeared by the horizon which resulted in a spectacular display of color which I was only marginally able to capture! The Grand Canyon is an experience that cannot be adequately described...one needs to experience it in person to understand its grandeur.

Nikon D300s + Nikkor 12-24mm.

Wow, gorgeous photos. I love the "spotlight" illuminating the cliff in #1, and #2 is simply astonishing. I also must get out there one of these days. Last year I promised my wife that we would visit Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon, but as yet i haven't fulfilled that promise.

Beautiful captures, Jehan.

Brings back a lot of fond memories of our family vacation out West. After a long day of driving, we finally arrived at the North Rim. My wife and I grabbed a bottle of wine and a couple of glasses and walked to the vista to enjoy the sunset and have a quiet moment together. It wasn't quite as intimate as we had hoped as we shared the moment with a couple of thousand people.

Who knew...........

Beautiful - I think you have certainly done the Grand Canyon justice in these shots. The colours/lighting/exposure are spectacular. Makes me want to visit to live the same experience as you.
