Default Weekend in the Sequoia's

Headed up to the mountains a couple of weeks ago for a quick fishing trip but more just to get out of the city for a couple of days.
This was not in any way a photography trip, so I only took my pocket camera and not the one you text with.
The fishing was really slow but the scenery never is.
Some flowers as the rafters go by.

Next we drove up to a waterfall. With the extreme drought conditions we are having here in California we were not sure there would be any water at all.
There was but not much.

Chasing the fish we drove about 30 miles down to where the river runs into the lake. Speaking of the drought there was a fire that broke out the night before that got pretty big. As we drove out on the upper lake bed to the river we came across this stuck truck. You can see the fire in the background (the Shirley fire).
Who ever got stuck walked out and left the truck behind. It looks like they really tried hard to get out.
We were getting a laugh checking things out and watching the water dropping helicopters fly over.

One last shot from my buddies place at the river. You can see the smoke rising over the mountains.

Interesting story, Mike. You got some good shots with your little camera. Sounds like your relaxing getaway was a pretty decent adventure.

Great photos. Well exposed. I like snapshots the best. What point and shoot was it? Jeez the pickup doesn't look that stuck...

I use the Cannon S95. It's an old camera but Im very comfortable with itl. It still does low light, shallow depth of field shots adequately and in RAW. It's a post processing friendly camera that easily fits into even a small pocket.
