Default A few from New Orleans

Hello everybody! Been away awhile, busy, not taking pictures, had a lot of family problems to attend to. We did manage to get over to New Orleans the Saturday after Christmas, and stayed until Monday. The weather was atrocious. Temp wise, warmish, but wet for almost the whole time we were there. I was able to snap a few between rain showers.

1)

Some of our crew standing in front of the 'Bama-Buckeye buses. We all know how that game turned out, now.

2)

St Louis cathedral in Jackson Square

3)

The man the square was named for, Andrew Jackson. He was a courier during the Revolutionary war, and , at the age of 13, was captured and mistreated by the British. He would go on to become a lawyer, and then the seventh U.S. President. His supporters would form what would later become the Democrat party.

4)

One of many beautiful roses growing at the base of the Statue of Andrew Jackson

5)

The women clowning around in Jackson Square

6)

Sidney's Liquor, Wine and Beer, across from the French Market in the French Quarter.

7)

Eating on the roof at Frank's

8)

A street musician and his very friendly pooch. On the bank of the Mississippi River in the French Quarter.

9)

A vignette of a French Quarter side street.

10)

And last, but not least, an "abandoned" warehouse at 815 Magazine Street. Lights were on, but nobody was home.

Weather could have been better, but it beat sitting at home playing with my dog, but not by much!

Robert

Either you really love playing with King or you this trip left some things to be desired.

You did get a nice variety of shots to show the area. I've never been there.

Does your wife have a twin?

I see no exif in your shots what did you take?

The pooch pic is my favorite too. Seems like every other time we go it rains. Maybe it's the time of year. Still a nice getaway, though.

Mike, I actually love my dog more than I like most people. haha..

New Orleans is better in the spring when the weather is warm but not hot, and the weather is more predictable.

Ha! Everyone thinks Jan and Renee are twins, but they are a couple years apart. They have a third sister that looks like them as well. I'll see if I have a recent picture of the three of them. Once we went to the Smokies with Nancy and Eddie, and while at a welcome station I walked up behind Nancy and gave her a hug from behind, before I discovered I had the wrong sister! Lucky the hug wasn;t more "intimate". Being in a public placed saved me!

I sold my ancient A300 in November, and haven't replaced it yet. I wanted an A65, but my "getting" place is sold out online. I did order an A57 with the 18-135 lens, it should be here by the end of the month. Then I can decide whether to keep it or send it back. I have heard some good things about it. Streets just got one and he loves it. The camera that took these pics was an A58. It's the only thing I could get my hands on at short notice, and I have since sent it back. Ya gotta love Amazon.

The camera did great, has some nice features, some of which are nothing more to me than fluff. Size wise and weight wise I liked it, especially carrying around all day. I would have kept it, but I don't trust a plastic lens mount over the long haul.

The high iso performance was great. I shot some stuff at 16,000 and it was actually usable. Barely, but usable.

Mike, the exif did not show up on these because I got lazy and basically copied and pasted from Flickr.

Mike, here's a picture shot in Sturgis SD. Nancy is on the left, Jan on the right. Nancy is the older sister, Renee is the younger one.

And here's Renee on the left. This is at Biketoberfest in Daytona 2012. She is the youngest. People have trouble with these two all the time. I don't see it...

That pic is all I have of her, due to a stupid mistake during resizing. Here is another girl on the street, Las Vegas Nevada.

Haha! These girls are all over Vegas, ready to pose for money. It was fun. Got some I can't post here..

Thanks, Jim. N.O. is always fun. I'm going back next month for Mardi Gras. It's always crazy during that time.
