Default A trip to Salvation Mountain

This past weekend my son and I drove out to the Salton Sea in So. Calif. A park ranger told us of a place in the nearby desert where a man had created a folk art vision as his tribute to God.

Leonard Knight (1931-2014) labored for years on his project after his initial attempt failed.

Using mud and hay, Knight built his mountain. He also used a lot of discarded materials including vehicles.

Yes interesting is hardly the word. What a god awful mess. How did he get permission to do this to the countryside?

Nope not his land at all. But he did it in an area Slab City, California, where the population is just squatters and Snow Birds.

Looks to be an interesting place, not so much a mess as it is an expression of ones faith, albeit in abstract artwork. Some very interesting images there Walter.
