Default Salt River Canyon from Route 60.

This scenic drive is worth every mile.

We were there at the end of December, probably near the turn-out that you took your shot from.

Hadn't heard much about it before, but one of the highlights of our back roads trip through the American Southwest.

I was more impressed with Salt River Canyon than I was the Grand Canyon. The Grand is too, well too Grand. It was the least impressive view from the top. Canyon de Chelly, Zion, Bryce were all far more interesting to look down into. It seems on the 2800 mile trip around Arizona that we stopped at every feature worth shooting. So why go back? I want to enjoy the beauty again. This time really look at it and catch what I missed first time around. If I had discovered Arizona when I was much younger Id probably be living there now. I know Id like to have my ashes dropped in Monument Valley somewhere, anywhere. Do you have more pics of Arizona? Lets see if we were in other exact same spots.

Was this taken just after going through the Petrified Forest? The only shot i got from roadside was this one with the multilayered colorful hills.

Bynx, we went through the Painted Desert first, then South through the Petrified Forest. One more from the Painted Desert.
