Default Hanauma Bay, Oahu (Warning 1600x460)

The following was stitched together from 5 shots taken on a ridge above the bay. This is not the normal tourist shot you see on picture postcards. Oh I deliberately left the remnants of the stitching. Enjoy

Beautiful! I wish I had your vantage point when I was there last year.

Great picture!!

Are you sure that's Hanaunau Bay? When I was there , there were so many people you couldn't see any sand.

Puck, i you make it back there, there's a paved road just to the right of the road leading into the bay located behind the bus stop. The road is gated and signs say No trespassing. That's the road that leads up to the ridge.
It's paved all the way since it serves as the access road to the microwave towers up there. It's about a one hour hike both ways max.

The view is quite different as you can see. I'll post a pano I did looking Diamond head way since the ridge provides views of east and west.

Checksix, yes it's Hanauma Bay. Like you I was surprised that there wern't as many bodies since it's usually crawling with people. Don't know why.

Thanks for the comments.

I see a parking lot (top left) and a long road leading to the beech, but no cars on the beech. Seems like a long walk to the beech.

Nice photo.

Chuck you got it right. Except for an access road used for taking down Handicapped beachgoers and cargo and maintenance, it's a long walk down to the beach.

The scantiness of the beach that day surprised many people since it is normally wall to wall people who take the hike down. This isn't the bad part. It's the walk up after you've used up all your energy enjoying yourself, that is the difficult one.

Aloha
