The Manfrotto 190xPROB is good.

But personally I would get the Manfrotto 055XPROB as the legs are a bit longer.

The longer legs may allow youto view through the camera's viewfinder without having to raise the center column or stooping.

When judging tripod height without the legs extended.... something around 60" (5ft) is all most of usneed as the head will add 3-4 " and the camera is another 3-4". Your eyeballs are typically 3" or so from the top of your head.

I am personally 5'11" and have the 055XPROB. My rig, with the legs fully extended and the column lowered, is about 1/4" of being eyeball level.

Not raising the column should beeverybody's goal as the camera is less stable compared to when the column is lowered.

If you don't want or don't need the horizontal arm, there are less expensive Manfrotto 'pods in the 190 or 055 series which can meet your needs very well.
