Bob, just got the Manfrotto 393 today. It is a solid and versatile mount and will suit my needs just fine and at a compartively more economical price point compared to the conventional gimball heads. Thanks for the recommendation. I''ll be trying it out at the airport this weekend (weather permitting).

for the price the flashpoint is not bad, and it work as advertised. There are better out there, but you do pay more for it. I messed around with the Flashpoint head and tripods, they are not bad, but they are consumer level. So they are not at the level of the higher price pro stuff.
Super Frequent Flyer, no joke. Ex Patriot and loving it.
