Default Queen Angels

I just returned from Cozumel where I used a Sealife DC1000 with strobe. This was my first experience with digital after 20 years using a Nikonos V. I found the auto setting on the strobe resulted in poor quality pictures so went manual. No matter how low I turned down the strobe, the Queen Angels were washed out or the wrong color. Some had stripes down the side where the fish had no stripes. French Angels also were not great but other fish were fine. It was almost like the iridescent colors overwhelmed the camera. Two other divers on the boat using Sealife cameras, one DC1000 and one DC800, experienced similar problems. Anyway to correct this?

No experience with this camera. What setting did you use on the camera? I always shoot in manual with apertures from f8 to about f16, that's with the camera set at 100 or 200 iso.
