Default galleries and site manager

I am looking for two programs (hopefully free) which will do these things:

1) Given a folder of edited pictures, it will create thumb nails, create the HTML gallery page and everything read to be uploaded. I have seen the list of software at Steve's review page:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/digsoftware_web.html
but I didn't know if anyone had a package that they like a lot (so I'll look there first.)

2) Something to manage ftp. I am building the site by hand (right now) mostly because I'm not trying to do anything really fancy. This is working ok right now, but the real pain is the managing of what to upload. I'd like a program that could look at the ftp site, and the working copy on my hard disk, compare them and then upload the files that have changed. I use filezilla to do graphical ftp (works nicely and is free) but it doesn't support this. Anyone know of anything that would do this?

I expect I'll eventually move to DreamWeaver, which will do #2 for you. But I don't believe it can do #1. Either way, I don't expect I'll do this any time soon, so any ideas would be great.

Ok, now that I'm at home, I found the other link to gallery creation software. It's Easy Thumbs:

Anyone used it?

Thanks for the referece to jalbum. I haven't run it yet, but looking at its web site and the examples there is looks very good and extremely flexable. Everything I've seen so far is missing something... and jalbum has it.

Eric,

Pixory has both automatic html generation, and an integrated FTP server in a single application. In fact, it acts as a web server also, and the html generation is dynamic, so you won't even have to worry about the freshness of html.

And, it's free!
