I saw a D80 over the weekend and saw on the box it was capable of making photos at ISO 100-1600, and then on dpreview.com, it says that its capable of the same thing, and then says "3200 with boost".

Is that something that is an optional accessory or attachment or software patch or what?

I can't find anything like that on Nikon's website, and haven't seen (yet) what "with boost" means.

I think it basically means tha if you want to go above 1600 you'll have to delve into the cameras menus to set it because the camera will never do so if left to chose the ISO itself, perhaps because they consider the noise at that rating to be pretty noticable, but they'll leave the optiun in if people really need it.
