Hi I wasintending to update my Canon Ixus 400 with the Ixus 800 but I see that Canon have now annouced the Ixus 900 ti - Ok Id love the 10 Mp 900 but when I compare the specs it appears to be missing the Image stabalision and 4X zoom lens of the Ixus 800.

Why have they dispenced with the IS feature on the 900? Does it not work as well as it should?

Any comments from users / experts would be welcomed

Many thanks

Both of those cameras were announced at the same time, so it's not that they abandoned IS, they just wanted to offer different models with different features, and let consumers tell them what they're willing to pay for.

The 900 already has a high list price of $499, and they probably would have had to make it $550+ if it had IS. Maybe they just want to see how much people will really pay in order to have 10 MP rather than 7MP.

To me the SD800 looks like the better buy. I'd rather have 7MP, with the IS and a better wide angle.
