yeah, pentax and samsung are partners in the realm of dSLRs so don't get the samsung you'll be missing out on the built-in image stabilization. I was never quite happy with the FZ30 either - ergonomically it was very nice, and it worked well in suitable lighting conditions (though noise in 'sky' shots, or anything that was a uniform colornever really lived upto what i would consider a good quality image). any DSLR will vastly outperform the fz30, and the fz20 as well; but the K100D is probably your best bet here. the kit lens is light, the pentax line is the lightest weight of most of the dSLRS available. if/when you get into buying more lenses (i've bought 8 since i got the pentax! - sold 4 to date, total net spending easily under $150 total - otherwise my wife would never go for it!) there are many available on ebay and several other sources online, as well as your local camera shop.

You guys have convinced me - thank you! NOW I'll go stew over where to push the buy button from again. I got side-tracked looking at the Samsung yesterday. I do have to obsess over this stuff you know
