Well, Pentax found themselves on the verge of elimination out of DSLR market and it seems that (with help of Samsung) they decided to take their positions back by making quality products and pricing them very moderately. The result is that currently Pentax offer best "bang for a buck".

And I'm very glad that you mention your opinion about their stock lenses, because yes it will be a while before I invest in additional lenses. In fact a flash might come first.
Getting external flash is a very wise decision. In my opinion, external flash with swivel head (to make it bounce from ceiling) is a must for indoor pictures.
