I need to replace my Canon A70 which has just died from the E18 lens retraction problem.

Good image quality indoors and out, quick fire up, reliability and a viewfinder are all important features. it would also be good if the camera was compact and could shoot short movies with sound.

The Canon Ixus 60/SD 600 seems to best meet my needs. However, having once been bitten by the E18 problems I'm reluctant to buy another Canon.

Are there other cameras I should look at which have the same blend of features I'm looking for? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

John B

I think the other model I'd suggest in that price range would be the Fuji F20. I own the F30 and am happy with it both indoors and outdoors. It does lack the viewfinder, however. And I can't say I know much about the movie mode as I don't really use it.
