Hi people, im going to buy my first digi cam, ive wanted one for ages, what i need is

Quality -most likely 8megapixs (which ive been told is best, yes im a complete newb)
Price -will pay up to $400
Memory - suppose decent
Screen - A nice sized LCD Screen (which i think here lcd's anyway)

and i suppose a decent amount of features, as anyone would im going to upload all pics to my pc

PS i know f all about digi cameras, what would you choose to buy? any advise would be great...

First, whoever ever told you 8 MP was best is not to be trusted. In point and shoot (P&S) cameras with their small sensors probably 6-7 is best within the current state of the art.

I'm of the opinion that the "super-zoom" cameras with 12x image stabilized (IS) lens are the most versatile and a number of those can be had for $400 or less, sometimes a lot less. You should check the Steve's Best Camera list for super-zooms: http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html.
