I currently have a Kodak DX7590. When I travel I usually lug the Kodak along with a Panasonic camcorder. It get's to be a pain after a while. I've tried to use the camcorder to take stills and it's quality is ok.

I'm looking for a slim pocketable camera like the DSC-W50 that can also take halfway decent video. I'm not expecting 3CCD video quality. I'd like the video to be 640x480 w/audio at 30fps.

I think I'd prefer if the camera was rechargeable, which I guess most are.

For "special" moments I'll lug all the big gear around.

Have you considered the Kodak Z612/Z712? Both will shoot an hour of video w/stereo sound track on a 2GB SD card. Both use MPEG4 compression to achieve that record time. A number of people comment that you loose and regain focus when you zoom with the Kodaks but of course skilled video photograrphers know not to zoom while the filming anyway. No one has proved the the defocus causes any more audience vertigo, nausea or groans than a 12x zoom does to begin with.

The Canon S3 is reported to take great videos but you can only get about 15 min. an the same size card.
