I have a Sony DSC V1 which has served me well over the past 4 1/2 years.

I'm looking for another compact camera that has a similar range of features as the V1, i.e. program shift, manual settings, etc. I already have a DSLR and I am looking for something to carry around when I don't want to take the SLR out.

I'm keen on the Olympus SP-550 but think it might be a bit too bulky.

You and me have the same problem. I love my DSC-V1, but since getting an Olympus 720sw for water & sports, I love being able to slip it into my pocket. I have not found a pocketable camera with the manual controls like the DSC-V1. The Olympus takes ok pictures, but everytime I sort my pictures, I can tell instantly which ones were taken on the Sony as they are so much better.

The Canon SD1000 looks very nice, but lacks much of the manual controls we want. Anythink you find would be helpful, and I will keep posting as I find more info.
