I am wanting to buy a small compact camera. Not a very fancy one - i'd prefer picture quality over manual controls. I originally wanted it with them, but may be able to get around it with scene modes and feel there a things i would prefer more.

What cameras do you recommend that have:

-Good megapixel (6 -9) - that produces good quality images - print size to A4.

- Takes good outdoor/indoor shots and also night shots

-Anti Shake/ Image stablization feature or similar

-A view finder would be excellent!

-Runs on AA (not completely important, but i do find them easier incase they go dead, you can pick them up anywhere)

- SD or XD. (my other camera uses XD, so i have plenty of them, but SD cards arn't that expensive)

Im not fussed on what brand - a good one, Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Fuji, Olympus etc.

Any help would be appreaciated very much. I have seen many cameras, but then have read reviews and seem to hate every thing of the camera, so im finding it hard to choose.

I think your most likely to find a camera that will meet most of your requirements (especially IS) in the Canon brand. That's not my area of expertise but I'd check that brand.
