Hi all
My last camera was Nikon coolpix 8400. Now I am going to buy d40x, but have some questions. I am not proffesional so first queston is how many lenses I can expect to have in the future? If I have d40x with nikkor 18-135, what I am considering, and in the future maybe wide prime lens or zoom, say 10-20mm, and telephoto , say 70-200 or sim. When I would use wide one, I will most probably make panorama pic where do not need autofocus, will be infinity, also when I need extra tele, I will again make pics from distant object and again do not need autofocus. Please comment my consideration. Thanks for any comment.

There are some very good lenses that will autofocus on the D40X. But some of the best lenses that will autofocus on other Nikon bodies, won't on the D40X. That's why the subject often come up here, and often by me.

It sounds like you are aware of the situation and are prepared to deal with it when and if you bump into it.

That's a lot better than not knowing about it and finding out later.

Have fun with it!

I own both the Nikon D-40 and the D-40X. I optred to go with the Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens and the Nikkor 55-200mmVR lens. The 55-200mmVR lens (around $(US) 200.00) is a budget priced lens with great image quality. I considered the Nikkor 18-135mm lens, but felt that the 55-200mmVR lens was a better choice as it was VR equipped. Thewre are now opver 40 lenses that will work on the D-40/40X camera,. so the selection is no longer limited at all.

Happy Thanksgiving!
