Can anyone suggest a digital non-SLR camera that uses an electronic shutter?

I am in the process of creating a computer controlled devicethat will advance frames of 8mm film across the stage of a microscope. The camera will be attached to the microscope and image each frame of film. The entire device and camera will be interfaced to a computer which will control advancing the 8mm film and taking the picture. I anticipate imaging 1000s of frames in this manner.

My preference is fora Canon, Nikon or Olympus camera as software already exists permitting control of the camera through a PC. I've been considering the Canon A75and A95 as both are relatively inexpensive in the second hand market, and have the resolution I'm seeking. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty determining if the shutter is mechanical or completely electronic.

I'd be very interested in suggestions? Thanks in advance.

PS: I have been looking at dedicated microscope CCD cameras however the resolution/price ratio seems a bit too high for my budget. Thanks.
