Because the Canon is last years model (but brand new) both of these cameras are around $200 at a local store. The first salesperson says to go with Fuji's S700because it's a new model, MP, LCD size etc.. Another salesperson chimed in and said to go withCanon's last years modelat $200 (claims a better camera)

Whichever I choose, it will end-up being a gift for my sister (last camera was stolen)

The reviews are good on both and the newer Canon S5is is way out of the price range so that's out.

Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you can get a new S3is for $200, then do it. The S700 is a great little camera, but it's normally >$100 cheaper than the S3is. The S700 may be a little better in low light, but the S3is is easier to put filters and converter lenses on.
