I do not owe any Canon camera but since I see many Canon fans here, Ithinkthat folks should have a look at CHKDK before purchasing any new p&s camera as they may do quite well with their oldIxus or G7and this simple free upgrade :

CHKDK is a small software that one can download on the SD card and just use it. It reallymakes a few Canon p&s amazingly powerful :

Zoom bracketing - Focus bracketing - ISO bracketing - Flash bracketing - Shutter bracketing - 1/25000 speed-Raw files - Histograms- live Zebra mode before shooting - Battery level always on - Full manual mode - and other extras like motion detection, and yes, you guessed it well, even a few games...

You can program picture sequences through a very basic language called UBASIC.

I am doing aerial pics from a kite with a camera attached to it, and a growing number of us is using CHKDK now.

Check-it out : http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief and here on popular science : http://img248.imageshack.us/my.php?i...dkarticzl7.jpg

I am not sure about any Canon guarantee for that one though. CHKDK says the upgrade process is very easily reversible and feedback from my kite friends confirm that.
