Hi every one, I am planning to purchase a new camera (under $350) since my old Kodak has become a bit temperamental and messes up WB quite often.
I mainly shoot landscape and automobile photographs with a bit of macro and general photography thrown in.
Things I am mainly focusing on are:
  • Good clean images with natural colors and relatively free of noise and other defects (especially during somewhat low light).[/*]
  • Ability to handle somewhat extreme highlights and contrast zones[/*]
  • Relatively fast operation[/*]
  • Manual controls to ensure I have the ability to shoot the photograph in the manner I want.[/*]
  • Decent quality videos[/*]
  • Optical image stabilizer[/*]
  • Good optical zoom (at least 200mm range).[/*]
  • Ability to use SD cards (planning to keep my Kodak as well)[/*]
  • Also I want a camera which is relatively trouble free, since I'll be buying in US and using it in India and the warranty wouldn't be applicable here.[/*]
So far I narrowed it down to Canon A720is, SX100is, A650is, S5is and Panasonic FZ18.

The Canon S-5 would be pretty good and it can take an external flash which would be very helpful with those car photos.
