I'm looking for a digicam for a friend.
It can't cost more than €150 because it's a group buy.

So far I've singled out the A580 at €149 and the 470 at €129.

My friend would be ok with the 470 feature-wise, as he's not an expert photographer, but I want to give him a camera with a stabilizer
because it's going to be used for happy-snapping a lot, so it'll help greatly.

My question is: does any of the aforementioned two digicams have a stabilizer?

The marketing blurb says the 590IS is stabilized "along with other models of the powershot line", but it doesn't say specifically whether THESE two are.

In case neither is stabilized, can you point me to a digicam of another manufacturer, costing about the same, that is stabilized? I'm willing to give up a small degree of image quality for a stabilizer.

Here in the USA I reccommend the Panasonic LZ-8 to my classes for foks that do want to spend much money. The LZ-8 sells for (US)$ 149.00 with free shipping.

It has 8mp with full auto and manual controls as well as scene modes. It has 5X optical zoom with a very convenient Easy Zoom feature that boosts the zoom up to 8X by using a bit of digital zoom with very little loss of resolution. The LZ-8 even can set manual WB, so it is anexcellent value.

Here is a LZ-8 photo sample
