I'm hoping to make the move up from my Canon A95. I'm pretty far from a professional, basically a newbie, but I have a basic understanding of ISO, exposure, etc. that I hope to utilize with this purchase.

I'm looking for a camera + lenses to run me less than $800. My only requirements are:

- compatibility with a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 lens.. my home has very poor lighting plus I've read lots of reviews stating this is a good walk-around lens as well as portrait lens.

- aside from portraits (of my kids, not professional), I take alot of beach shots, surfing, and maybe baseball and soccer when my kids get a little older.

- IS in the body is nice but not necessary. AF is a must.

I have small hands and I loved the fit of the Nikon D50 but I haven't found those anywhere but ebay and I would rather not purchase from ebay. I'm interested in the Pentax K200D mostly b/c my sister has a set of old Pentax 35mm lenses, which I understand work on the dSLR, which could save me alot of money depending on what lenses she has. But I don't knowif Pentax has an equivalent to the 50mm 1.8. Otherwise, I'm open to any suggestions!

Take a look at the Sports & Action PhotosForum, and see what others are using for the kinds of shots you want to take.
