Investing in first SLR to shoot indoor swim meets, no flash, also need lenses. Want either a 40D or 50D with 2-3 lenses - thinking: (1) kit, (2) SIGMA 70-200mm f/2.8, (3)Canon EF 85mm f/1.8.

(1) I'm leaning towards 50D because of higher ISO range but can't afford L series lenses. Will SIGMA 70-200mm f/2.8 lens work well with 50D to shoot action indoor swimming or would it be better to go with 40D?

(2) First goal is being able to shoot indoor swimming action. Will also use this for indoor/outdoor portraits, wildlife, general use and lots of learning. AM I LOOKING AT THE RIGHT LENSES TO GET STARTED (lens budget around $1000)?
