If you are missing the ability that you can get with a fast lens (faster shutter speeds in low light or smaller DOF), then a f2.8 lens is a good idea. On the other hand, if you are doing more landscape, you might want to invest in something wider than 17mm - there are several choices available in the 10-17, 10-20, 12-24 etc. range. A really wide angle lens can be great fun and would help for landscapes.

The latest incarnation of the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 also seems to be well liked.
