- Photo Quality: Overall the photos are pretty sharp, but the colors just do not appear right to me, I'll have to go through and see if I still have any of the shots. I tried the full dummy mode and a few of the scene modes.
Canon color is pretty good, so I can't guarantee that a more expensive camera will impress you any better.

Both the flickr and pbase photo sharing sites have camera tools or databases. Where you can see shots taken by their members with a specific camera. Spend some time with those and see if there are any current cameras that meet you expectations for color quality.

Well after thinking for way to long, I went ahead and ordered the Panasonic DMC- LZ8, haven't received yet, so I can't give my impression on it. I tried unsuccessfully to find any left over Canon A590, so the Panasonic looked like the next best camera for my tight budget. The only thing that might take some getting used to, is the no viewfinder, and looking at the screen to frame a shot.
