The 'best' compact P&S for 250-300GBP with HD recording

Hi All
I'm a bit disappointed in reviews conflicting each others, so I thought I'd ask the users directly:

In your opinion, what's the 'best' compact P&S for around 275-350 quids?
I know 'best' could mean many things, so how about best 'bang for the buck'.

Image quality is key of course, and on equal footing with good quality HD recording. Low light performance would be nice. Size should be compact, something along the lines of the samsumg nv3 or sony tx1 (size-wise, that is), but I'd be happy to go as big as the lumix dmc-lx3 if the quality warrants it
