Default Canon Powershot G11, SX20 or Panasonic FZ35 or....?

Hello what a wonderful forum this is.
I'm a dutch woman, looking for a new digital camera and I don't know which to choose.
I still have a normal slr camera, a Canon, but I'm at the moment not looking for a dslr but for a good compact camera because of the size.

Taking pictures during vacations, but also during walks, landscapes, but also macro (flowers, insects), buildings, people.....
Pictures of sporting children (football)...
I like it very much when I can photographe people while they are not aware that they are being photographed, therefore a very good zoom.....
Also photographing in the tropics.... Asia.... South America....

Very good and fast auto-focus
I would love if it will be fast between the shots time.
To have Manual Control (focus, iso, apperture...)
Good in low light conditions or a good flash (or an external flash possibility)
High quality photos

The camera's I have been looking at at the moment are:
Canon Powershot G11
Canon Powershot SX20
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35
or other possibilities?

Eventually, but more expensive:
Olympus E P1 (slow autofocus?)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

I have read already some reviews and they said that the Canon G11 had some problems with traces of chromatic aberrations in areas of extreme contrast.
What are your opinions about that?
And how is that with the other camera's?
Or is it only in areas of extreme contrast and not with normal photography?

Welcome to the Forum. We're pleased you dropped by.

In my opinion the Panasonic FZ-35 would just about be ideal for your requirements. The camera is lighter than the Canon Sx20 and has more usable zoom than the Canon G-11cameras.

I use a FZ-35 in addition to my DSLR, and I enjoy the lightness and ease of you. It make one feel quite free to not have the bulk of your DSLR kit to carry around.

Have a great day and a Merry Christmas.

I personally haven't tried any of the canons, but I love my Fz35. I'm amazed at the shots I get in all types of shooting conditions
