I have never been able to successfully apply a screen protector w/o getting air bubbles and finger prints trapped underneath. So, I don't bother anymore. My suggestion is to invest on a nice camera bag and try to keep the camera protected as much as possible. Believe it or not, one of the things that can scratch the LCD very easily is shirt buttons as you have the camera hanging down from your neck. The G1 is awesome because it has a swivel LCD, so when you are not shooting, you can close it to keep it protected. I also have the EP1 and bought a wrist string (originally sold for the Nintendo Wiimote). It works great.
