Default Durable P&S

Hi all,

Earlier this year I made the switch to DSLR and purchased the Pentax K-x and I love it. However, due to its size/value, I'm finding myself in some situations where I don't want to lug it around with me. I still had my older P&S though but it recently met its fate on a kayak trip.

Though its not urgent, I'd like to purchase a new P&S to have for situations when carrying the K-x doesn't make sense. I'm interested in the "rugged" P&S's out there but not sure if I really need all the durability they offer. I don't need the camera for underwater photos but I would like something that can stand getting some water dripped on it, a little dirt thrown at it and/or a little abuse here and there. This camera would be mainly for hiking, kayaking, etc. It also does not have to be the world's smallest P&S, just something I can toss into a backpack with my other things. I'm more concerned with overall picture quality and a decent zoom than size.

Any suggestions/reviews/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
