Yes the k-x is a excellent camera, will out perform the a230 hands down. It may be worth going 60 euros over your budget for it.

But then depending on the photo shooting environment, a compact super zoom like the Canon SX-130 will save you money and provide the photos needed, all in a much more affordable and more easily transported size.

At (US)249.00, the Canon SX-130 offers 12x optical zoom (28-336mm), full automatic and manual controls, that produce very good photos, excellent close-up shots, and HD video that allows the zooming while filming all in a much more convenient sized camera.
