Default Replacing my Canon A610

First I want to thank you for this forum and advices, you're great.
I have a Canon A610 and I want to replace it.
Does Canon sx220 can give a better image quality, since the A610 has F2.8 and larger sensor?

Another question:
The Canon A610 is a very good camera with it's larger sensor, medium size, F 2.8, Fully articulated LCD (very important to me for most of my images are of my kids)
Is there a camera with good video and at least as good as the A610?
The only one I could fine is the Canon G12 is it an over kill for me?
How the G12 will perform only in auto mode?

If you want to keep the articulated screen feature as well as the large imager. The G11 as well as the G12 fill the bill nicely. If you were willing to trade in your A610, you could probably get a Canon refurbished G11 for around $260, under the Canon Loyalty Program.
