G'day TC

Good thinking ... but my Kx certainly does auto-detect vertical images and displays them correctly.

I love my pentax k-x. I am someone who didn't set out to buy a dslr, but I took the plunge with the pentax and I do not regret it at all. The price and reviews are what lured me into the k-x. The size and feel of the camera are great for me. I also find it to be very easy to figure out...it's very intuitive. I absolutely love all the features. The built-in digital filters are so much fun to play with. I have the 18-55 mm and 55-300 mm lenses and they have worked well for me. I also have a couple old manual lenses that I don't use very often, but they were passed down to me and they are fun to mess around with. I have taken tons of pictures of my family, some wildlife shots and a bunch of kids sports shots. For a good, entry-level, general use dslr, I think the k-x is perfect. Granted, I have nothing to compare it with, but I am very satisfied with it. Good luck with your decision!

If you have any Pentax camera specific questions, there's a very active, friendly group of Pentax owners here at Steves - you'll find them further down in the section under Pentax dSLR. No question is too small or dumb to ask - chances are we've asked the same one. Everyone is happy to answer you or give you their opinion.
